Awesome Almeria stun Sevilla with two-goal comeback

Goals either side of half-time from Largie Razmani and Umar Sadiq were enough to see Almeria pick up their first win of the season against the still winless Sevilla.

The opening stages of this game was a real humdinger of an affair, with Sergio Akieme coming close for Almeria, before Erik Lamela was thwarted by Fernando Martinez, all inside the opening five minutes.

A frantic start was followed by a lull in proceedings, with both sides almost feeling one another out, perhaps to the detriment of the spectacle for the neutral.

It was Sevilla who struck the game’s first critical blow however, when Oliver Torres thundered home a header from Alex Telles’ pinpoint delivery.

Sevilla couldn’t see their lead through to the break though, and were punished for their sloppy defending when Ramazani latched upon a loose ball before firing across the goal and into the bottom corner.

That equaliser before the break breathed new life into Almeria, and the hosts ought to have taken the lead inside the first 10 minutes of the second half, but as Sadiq showed Karim Rekik a clean pair of heels, he could only skew his effort wide of the target.

Sadiq didn’t have to wait long to redeem himself though, tapping home Lucas Robertone’s cross to fire Almeria into a surprise lead with a little over half an hour to play.

It was almost a continuation for Sevilla, who endured three draws away to the newly-promoted sides last season, though this defeat was undoubtedly more of a humiliation.

With Sevilla’s highest away win percentage against any opponent faced three or more times coming against Almeria, you would be forgiven for thinking it would be an onslaught on the hosts’ goal in the closing stages.

It didn’t prove to be that way though, as Almería held on to secure their first LaLiga win after seven without victory.
