Random drawing tie-breakers were used Monday to sort out some of the selection order for June's NBA Draft between six sets of clubs with identical regular-season records.

The results gave wins to the Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies.

Houston won a drawing over San Antonio, after both had 22-60 seasons, for the second overall position in the preliminary order, although the final list won't be known until the NBA Draft Lottery on May 16th.

The Rockets, San Antonio and the Detroit Pistons, who finished with the NBA's worst record at 17-65, each have the best chance at winning the lottery for the top selection at 14 per cent.

The Pacers beat Washington after both were 35-47 for the seventh pick in the order, while Chicago (40-42) took a tie-breaker over Oklahoma City for 11th overall, although the Bulls' selection might be sent to Orlando as part of a prior trade.

Miami (44-38) won a three-way tie-breaker over defending NBA champion Golden State and the Los Angeles Clippers, with the Warriors second in the draw and Clippers third - leaving them in spots 18-20 for the draft.

Phoenix (45-37) took the 21st pick ahead of Brooklyn while Memphis (51-31) won the 25th spot over Cleveland for the June 22nd draft.

The draft lottery, available to the 14 clubs that failed to reach the playoffs, will determine the four top places.

Winning the tie-breakers gave Indiana and Chicago slightly better odds in the lottery.

The first four picks will be determined by the lottery with the order then used to determine selections from five to 14.

After Detroit, Houston and San Antonio, the best odds for winning the top pick in the lottery belong to Charlotte at 12.5 per cent.

Chicago, Oklahoma City, Toronto and New Orleans lost out on a playoff berth in last week's play-in games.

French  7-foot-2 (2.19m) center Victor Wembanyama is considered the likely first selection in the NBA Draft.
