Carlos Alcaraz (19) had to withdraw from the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters 1000, due to a ruptured abdominal muscle, as confirmed by the player himself after an MRI scan. He will miss the ATP Finals as well as the Davis Cup.

The world number one will be forced to stop because of the injury he sustained during the second set of the match against Rune. After suffering a pinch in the abdominal area, he could neither hit a backhand nor serve comfortably and opted to retire.

Now, back home, and after being evaluated by his doctors, it has been revealed that he is suffering from "a muscle tear in the internal oblique musculature of the left lateral abdominal wall".

In addition, Alcaraz himself, through social media, has indicated that his estimated recovery time will be "six weeks".

In view of this situation, the player from Murcia will not be able to be in Turin for the ATP Finals, which takes place from 13 to 20 November, nor will he be able to play the following week's Davis Cup finals in Malaga, which will be held from 22 to 27 November.
