Jan-Moritz Lichte has taken over the team on an interim basis and will also be in charge on Saturday when Gladbach host Mainz 05 at home.
A new head coach is expected to be presented in time for the upcoming international break. Now, a new name has appeared on the list of candidates: Brian Priske. The 49-year-old Dane has been head coach at Sparta Prague since summer 2025, and previously worked at Feyenoord, Royal Antwerp, and FC Midtyjlland, among others.

In addition to Priske, former Mainz coach Bo Henriksen is also considered a strong candidate according to "kicker".
