Charlton and Ipswich put on show in eight-goal thriller
The English football league never fails to disappoint for drama and incident. This weekend in League One, a heartstopping ending to the match between Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town caught the eye around the nation.
Going into stoppage time at the end of the game was finely poised at 2-2 - then the carnage started.
Freddie Ladapo (24) put the visitors Ipswich into the lead in the 91st minute before they made it to 4-2 through Samy Morsy (31), three minutes later.
You would have been forgiven for turning off the match at this point given the time and the scoreline, but the home side were not done.
They scored in the 96th and 99th minute to level the game in an unbelievable finish to send the home support into pandemonium.
This may be the best nine minutes of your day. Ipswich finished the weekend second in the third tier of English football, just a point behind leaders Plymouth Argyle, after this crazy finale.
Suarez seals title for boyhood club
Luis Suarez's (35) move back to Nacional in the summer was one for football's romantics. The Uruguayan grew up at the club and going back sparked joy in Montevideo. Now, he has brought success with him.
He scored twice as his side beat Liverpool 4-2 after extra time to clinch the championship - Suarez's seventh league title in his career.
The short-term deal betwwen the two parties is set to expire in November, with Suarez off to Qatar for the World Cup. His future remains uncertain after that, but he now has cemented his legacy with his hometown side.
Tears in Ireland
Another league was wrapped up this weekend, with Shamrock Rovers earning their 20th League of Ireland crown with one game to spare.
After clinching it with a win over Derry City, they invited manager Stephen Bradley's son onto the pitch to join in with the celebrations. His son, Josh, has been battling leukemia and he lifted the trophy alongside club captain, Finn Ronan, before his Dad lifted him aloft, tears flowing from the manager.
A beautiful moment that sums up how football can bring joy to so many.
