The 156th Derby della Molle proved to be an epic classic that saw Juventus beat Torino 4-2, earning I Bianconeri their 25th win in the last 34 H2Hs.

Juventus’ Serie A (SA) points deduction meant they entered the game neighbouring Torino in the table as well as geographically. And I Bianconeri were shocked inside 90 seconds, when Wilfried Singo’s initial header from a corner hit Yann Karamoh, and the Ivorian instinctively finished having been kept onside by Dušan Vlahović. The lead didn’t last long though, as Filip Kostić’s cross floated through the crowd to Juan Cuadrado, whose shot deflected off Ricardo Rodriguez and past Vanja Milinković-Savić, marking the wing-back’s first goal of the season.

There had been a long period in the first half without any notable chances, but it came to life again before the break. Shortly after seeing a flicked header fantastically saved by Wojciech Szczęsny, Antonio Sanabria provided a superb finish to Ivan Ilić’s low cross to restore Il Toro’s lead. But a mere three minutes later, Danilo met Ángel Di María’s corner with an outstanding header that struck the post and just about crossed the line, despite Milinković-Savić’s desperate efforts to claw it away, ensuring the sides entered HT level.

Both crossbars were struck in the second half, with Vlahović unable to finish from Nicolò Fagioli’s eye of the needle pass, before Karol Linetty was denied after hitting a curling effort that left his compatriot Szczęsny helpless. Juve were then boosted as the final 20 minutes dawned, with Paul Pogba coming on for his first appearance since returning from Manchester United in the summer. Swiftly taking things up a notch, Gleison Bremer conjured a brilliant header against his former club to put the hosts ahead for the first time on the night.

Kostić had delivered a whole host of enticing crosses throughout the match, and Adrien Rabiot latched onto one of them to add Juventus’ fourth, ensuring I Bianconeri secured their fourth consecutive SA win. The result takes them six points behind sixth-placed Atalanta, while Torino have now lost three of their last five across all competitions.
