Ghana’s national U-15 boys’ team maintained their perfect record at the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival with emphatic victories over Myanmar and Guam in Azerbaijan on Sunday.

The young side thrashed Myanmar 7-1 before recording an even more convincing 7-0 win over Guam to make it three victories from three matches in Group W.

Ghana had opened their campaign with a 4-1 victory over Uzbekistan, meaning they have now scored 18 goals and conceded just two in their first three matches.

Against Myanmar, Jerry Owusu and Abdul Aziz Issah continued their impressive goalscoring form, while Nathaniel Owusu added another goal to give Ghana a commanding advantage before half-time.

Shamsudeen Sulemana extended the lead after the break, before Angel Junior Adjei scored twice. An own goal from the Myanmar defence added to Ghana’s tally, while their opponents managed a consolation strike.

Ghana followed that performance with another dominant display against Guam, securing a 7-0 victory to maintain their place at the top of Group W.

Abdul Latif Sa-ad opened the scoring before Emmanuel Afful doubled Ghana’s advantage. Raymond Agyapong and Nathaniel Owusu also found the net to give Ghana a comfortable lead.

Afful completed his brace after the break, while Abdul Aziz Issah continued his scoring run to round off the emphatic victory. Ghana also kept a clean sheet against Guam.

The results follow Ghana’s opening 4-1 win over Uzbekistan, in which Issah and Jerry Owusu both scored twice.

With three wins from three games, Ghana have established themselves as the team to beat in Group W and will now turn their attention to their final two group fixtures against the Bahamas and Kazakhstan on Monday, October 26.

The FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival is an initiative under FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme, designed to give young players international experience and opportunities to showcase their abilities on the global stage.
