Thomas Arnoldsen is back in action for Aalborg Handball, but he has not been selected for the current national team training camp to give the backcourt player a rest. The 24-year-old from Skanderborg has been hampered by shoulder issues, which, according to national team coach Nikolaj Jacobsen, remain a concern ahead of the World Championship in Germany.

"Naturally, there’s always a bit of nervousness regarding the shoulder—wondering if it will truly get back to 100 percent," Nikolaj Jacobsen tells dr.dk.

"Anyone who knows Thomas can see that his shoulder isn't quite where it needs to be. We’re hoping it gets there and that he returns in top form, because when he is, he’s one of the best handball players in the world."

Nikolaj Jacobsen is expected to select his final Danish squad for the 2027 Men's Handball World Championship around mid-December.

Jacobsen has already gathered a 17-player roster for the November 2026 EHF Euro Cup matches against Spain and Switzerland as a key warm-up and evaluation phase.
