Germany 2 USA 3
The USA made it three wins from three in Group A of the IIHF World Championships, but were made to work by a valiant Germany side in a 3-2 victory in Tampere on Monday afternoon.
After a goalless first peried that saw Germany unable to take advantage of two powerplays, it was the US who scored first through Philadelphia Flyers' defender Ronnie Attard.
The lead lasted just five minutes as Samuel Soramies equalised for the Germans, surprisingly whilst shorthanded and five seconds before the end of the period, they were in the lead through Justin Schutz.
The US went into the break needing to find another gear and it would be Sean Farrell - a collegiate player from Harvard - who would level the game thanks to some good work from teenage teammate Lane Hutson.
Neither team had been able to make the most of the respective powerplays in this match, but with just over five minutes left to play in Finland, and after Moritz Seider had been sent to the bench for holding, the US struck through Matt Coronato to give themselves a vital victory over a German side yet to pick up a win at this year's World Championships.

Finland 1 Sweden 2 (AOT)
Co-hosts Finland
After a first period without any scores, Oscar Lindberg broke the deadlock for Sweden three minutes before the end of the second period with help from Jonatan Berggren and Fabian Zetterlund.
Finland, roared on by their home crowd, were level through Juho Lammikko in the third period before they were unable to take advantage of a powerplay late on in the game after Zetterlund was binned for hooking.
This sent the game to overtime in Tampere and it was Finland's time to hang on after Joel Armia was penalised for hooking. They were able to do it, with the game going to penalties.
Sweden would go onto win the shootout 3-2 and take the two points, lifting them to second in Group A. Finland took one point away from the loss, and still sit inside the top four.

Group B
Slovakia 1 Canada 2 (AOT)
Canada remain unbeaten at the IIHF World Championships thanks to a shootout win over Slovakia in Riga to top Group B after three games.
Some early penalties for both side did not result in a goal, but it was Jake Neighbours who was on hand to break the deadlock in the eighth minute of the first period and give his Canada side the lead.
But the partisan Slovak crowd cheered their team on to a leveller just nine minutes later - Peter Cehlarik taking advantage of a powerplay to net for his side.
Chances came and went for both sides with the biggest commotion of the game coming when Libor Hudacek was dismissed from the ice for boarding.
Level at 1-1, the game would go to overtime, but the two sides could not be separated as was the same through the first five penalties in the shootout.
However, it was Jack Quinn, who would make the difference, scoring the eighth attempt in the shootout to give Canada two points for the overtime win, Slovakia having to settle for a single point in this overtime loss.

Czech Republic 3 Latvia 4 (OT)
Latvia shocked Czech Republic on Monday evening with a 4-3 overtime win that gave the hosts their first win of the World Championships from three games.
Going into the game as favourites, Czech Republic started well, scoring first in the ninth minute through Sparta Prague defender David Nemecek.
The first period came and went with some incident but no goals, however the tournament co-hosts snapped into life scoring twice in one minute to shock the Czechs. Rihards Bukarts was first to score, before forward Martins Dzierkals netted soon after.
Despite going behind Czech Republic rallied to level through Dominik Kubalik midway through the second period with assists from Tomas Dvorak and Roman Cervenka.
The third period would decide the game and Oskars Cibulskis gave Latvia the lead back once more with a goal five minutes into the finale. But the Czechs weren't finished just yet as Michal Kempny sent a breathless game into overtime where the Latvians would come out on top thanks to Oskars Batna.
