FIFA have announced the 14 nominees for The Best award, with Lionel Messi (35) being the big favourite after winning the World Cup with Argentina. Ballon D'or winner Karim Benzema (35) and Kylian Mbappé (24) are also among the candidates.

The Best ceremony is scheduled for February 27th in Paris. To take the World Cup into consideration, FIFA have clarified that the award will include the players' performance between August 8, 2021 and December 18th, 2022. As a result, the entire European 2021/22 season and the first half of 2022/23 will be valid.
