The Netherlands outclassed Qatar in their final group game at the Al Bayt Stadium. Unfortunately for Qatar, their third loss of the World Cup makes them the first hosts to go out of the tournament without a win. As for the Dutch, they were professional without being spectacular in the match but are starting to build up a bit of form at the right time, they finish top of Group A.

18:00 CET: That's all from our live coverage here. The Netherlands strode to a 2-0 win in comfortable fashion and it should have been more. It's a shame for Qatar, their tournament ends without much to encourage the fans - they lost three from three.

Senegal have beaten Ecuador which means that they go through to the last 16 in second place with the Dutch taking top spot in Group A.

Louis Van Gaal will be happy with the Netherlands' record on paper - two wins and a draw - but they have yet to fully click into gear and impress in the tournament. It will be interesting to see how they fare as the tournament progresses. They will meet the second-placed team from Group B next.

Check out our full match report here as well as the match stats below and stay with us on Flashscore.com to follow all the action from Group B later today to see who will meet Senegal and the Netherlands in the round of 16.

Second Half

Fulltime statistics

96': That's full-time here at the Al Bayt Stadium.

92': Steven Berghuis bends a lovely shot from the corner of the box and it collides with the frame of the goal and out of play. Almost a wonderful goal.

90': There will be six added minutes in this half.

89': The Dutch are playing the ball around at will now. It's safe to say that this game is over.

86': Kenneth Taylor comes on for the Netherlands in place of Frenkie De Jong.

85': A couple of changes for Qatar. Musab Khoder replaces Ismaeel Mohammad. Abdulaziz Hatem departs the field of play to be replaced by Ahmed Alaaeldin.

83': There's the double change we expected from Van Gaal. Gakpo and De Roon depart for Weghorst and Koopmeiners.

80': A chance for Qatar is repelled by the Dutch defence. You would expect Louis Van Gaal to start resting some more of his troops now that there is just 10 to go.

76': Back to the Al Bayt Stadium and, as opposed to the other match in Group A, there isn't much action here. Qatar muster a weak shot from distance and that sums them up in the second half.

It feels like the match is petering out a bit. The Dutch thought they scored a third and it feels like, even though the goal was ruled out, the psychological blow stood.

LIVE from Senegal - Ecuador: Another GOAL! Senegal take the lead! It's all happening in the other match.

A free kick is played to the back post, it drops to Kalidou Koulibaly and his finish is emphatic, rifling home a volley to give his side the lead and the second spot in the last 16. A quite incredible two minutes of action.

LIVE from Senegal - Ecuador: GOAL! Ecuador have equalised! A corner from the right is flicked on by Felix Torres and Caicedo is there to tap home from close range. Now, the pressure is all back on Senegal with 20 minutes remaining. As it stands Ecuador go through!

LIVE from Senegal - Ecuador: With a quarter of the game to go, the roles from the first half have been reversed. Senegal, once dominant in attack, have sat back to consolidate their 1-0 lead and Ecuador have been the aggressor as they go in search of a goal that would level the game and send them through. As of yet though, they are yet to create anything of note.

69': That will not be a goal - there was a handball by Gakpo in the buildup and so it has been ruled out after a VAR review. 2-0 it stays.

68': GOAL! 3-0 for the Netherlands. And it's the two substitutes who combine. Janssen squares it for Berghuis who slots it into an empty net.

66': For the Dutch - Memphis Depay and Davy Klaassen both depart. Vincent Janssen and Steven Berghuis come on in their places.

65': Three substitutions for Qatar. Assim Omer Madibo is replaced by Karim Boudiaf, Hasan Al Haydos is replaced by Ali Assadalla, and Almoez Ali is replaced by Mohammed Muntari.

60': After an hour here, it's fair to say that the Netherlands looks pretty comfortable with 66 per cent of the ball and a two-goal lead. They haven't been quite at their best but they do look a lot more confident and coherent than in their first two matches where they really struggled to get going. The Qataris should look at the next half hour for what it is - a final 30 minutes in this World Cup to express themselves.

56': That second goal conceded could be fatal for Qatar. They need to try and shake that off and get back to playing their football. They have shown they can mix it with the Dutch.

52': Nathan Ake (Ned) picks up the first yellow card of the match.

49': GOAL! Frenkie De Jong scores a second for the Netherlands. Klaassen whips in a cross which is deflected onto Depay (at the back post) who gets a shot on target. Meshaal Barsham makes an incredible save to deny him. Unfortunately for Qatar, De Jong is the first to react to the rebound and he toes it home to make it 2-0.

45': Qatar get the second half underway.

16:58 CET: Have a look at the first-half stats and an update from Group A's other match below. Stay tuned for the second half between the Netherlands and Qatar.

Halftime at Senegal - Ecuador: Senegal lead at the break thanks to Ismaila Sarr's penalty and it was richly deserved after their attacking play. He, Idrissa Gueye and Boulaye Dia all had chances before the goal on the stroke of halftime. Right now, Senegal would go through if the scoreline remains the same, meaning Ecuador need to do something they could not do throughout the opening 45 minutes - get a shot on goal!

First Half

48': That's halftime here. Stay tuned for the first-half stats. The Netherlands have dominated that first period and deserve their lead going into halftime, Cody Gakpo breaking the deadlock with a superb strike. Despite struggling to hang onto the ball, the Qataris have shown some signs of life with moments of good possession and a few attempts on goal. They'll be hoping they can catch the Dutch napping in the second half.

LIVE from Senegal - Ecuador: GOAL! There's been a breakthrough in Group A's other match. Senegal have scored - Sarr from the penalty spot. That puts the Africans in a position to go through if things stay the same. The Netherlands will finish top if they win and Senegal win or draw. If Ecuador win, they could be level with the Dutch.

45': There will be three minutes of added time here.

44': A nice period of possession comes to an end for Qatar but they are proving in patches that they can match the Dutch.

40': Gakpo gets another opportunity to score but he flashes the ball well over the bar - he's offside anyway.

For their limited possession, the Qataris aren't completely out of this context, they have had their moments. Can they find a way back in?

33': Looking at our momentum graphic for the first half hour, you can see that the Dutch have really dominated this match so far. They are good value for their lead and have already had eight shots, hitting the target twice. Cody Gakpo scored the only goal so far with another sweet strike to enhance his growing reputation even further.

26': GOAL! The Netherlands! Cody Gakpo scores again at the World Cup for the Dutch. He receives Klaassen's pass outside the area and drives past a defender before drilling it into the bottom right corner from the edge of the box. It's another exquisite goal from Gakpo. That's three for the tournament!

24': A bit of pressure mounted by Qatar finally with two consecutive corners. They can't trouble Noppert in goal but encouraging signs as they have hardly managed to maintain steady possession.

20': The Netherlands' second corner of the match is headed wide by Nathan Ake. The Dutch have now had six shots to Qatar's one and they are really in control of this match. The hosts can hardly get a foot on the ball.

LIVE from Senegal - Ecuador: The game has been dominated by Senegal in the early going with Ecuador unable to live with their quick attacking play. Idrissa Gueye missed a superb chance in the third minute, blazing wide from six metres and Boulaye Dia should have done better five minutes later when well placed. Senegal must win to progress and they are the likelier team to break the deadlock in the opening exchanges.

15': Another chance for the Netherlands. This time it's a lovely build up and it falls to Depay in danger but he blazes it over.

11': The Dutch make another foray into the Qatari box. They have dominated possession and chances in the opening stages here. They are still yet to craft a meaningful opening but they look more likely.

4': Bright start from the Netherlands as they surge forward and cause chaos in the box. Daley Blind lobs a shot over the bar. The Dutch look a bit more energised than in their previous matches in which they were pretty flat.

1': The Netherlands kit off here at the Al Bayt Stadium.

Pre-match

16:00 CET: The Netherlands are playing in their classic all-orange kit. The hosts Qatar are in their change strip of white. Here we go!

15:57 CET: The teams are out and raring to go. It should be a passionate performance by the hosts as they bow out of the tournament. The Dutch need to get some form together, they'll be keen to finally click before they are put under real pressure in the next rounds, provided they get a result here.

Team News

Memphis Depay (28) will start his first game for the Netherlands at the World Cup against Qatar.

Depay, who came on as a substitute in his team’s first two matches, will line up alongside Cody Gakpo (23) in attack while coach Louis van Gaal also tinkered with his midfield, bringing in Marten de Roon (31) to provide more protection for playmaker Frenkie de Jong (25).

De Roon replaced Teun Koopmeiners (24) while Depay comes in for Steven Bergwijn (25), having battled with a hamstring injury over the last months.

The hosts, who have been eliminated, made a single change with midfielder Abdelaziz Hatem (32) replacing Karim Boudiaf (32), whose place he took with 20 minutes left of their last match against Senegal.

Introduction

Qatar would have hoped that they would have already picked up points before facing Group A's toughest opponent in the Netherlands. The Dutch sit atop the group alongside Ecuador on four points, and they will want to pick up three points in order to get a favourable draw in the next stage.
