There was a colourful sight on the pitch when a runner holding a rainbow flag and wearing a shirt with messages about respecting Iranian women and saving Ukraine suddenly interrupted the second half, which had only been underway for a short time. The runner has turned out to be Italian, and the Italian embassy in Qatar says he has now been released without charge.

This is according to NRK, who have contacted the embassy to find out about the runner, who is said to go by the name of Mario Ferri, also known as ''Il Falco".

"The national in question was released shortly after the incident without being charged," the Italian consul in Qatar says. He would not confirm the man's name, but several sources around the web seem to confirm his identity.

Ferri is a well-known activist who, among other things, has been involved in evacuating women and children from Ukraine in the context of the ongoing war.
