With more nerves than when he is on the pitch, his natural habitat, Gavi took to the stage at the Ballon d'Or 2022 Gala to receive the award that accredits him as the best young player in the world, according to the France Football jury. 

Gavi, accompanied by Pedri, the previous winner, declared that "it is an honor to receive this award. I want to thank Barcelona and my teammates in the team and the national team, and all the coaches who have given me the opportunity to play," he said in his first speech before ending with a "visca el Barca". 

As he was leaving, the presenters called him back to answer some questions with Pedri. And, among other things, neither of them dared to compare themselves with Xavi, their current Barcelona coach, and Andres Iniesta.

"We don't look at that, we each try to do what we know how to do, always giving our best and doing it the best way we can". 

Gavi added: "I am proud to receive this award".
