Rise & Shine: Kaizer Chiefs head to Polokwane and here is how they fared in the past

Chiefs lie third in the table, eight points behind runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, although they have two games in hand.

Amakhosi are unbeaten in the league this season, with three wins and two draws from their opening five matches, and will be looking for another three points this weekend.

They drew 0-0 on their last visit to Polokwane in April and were beaten 2-0 the time before that.

But overall they have lost only twice in 11 visits to Rise & Shine, recording four wins and five draws, while conceding just seven goals in that time.

Their overall record against the Limpopo club is also strong, with 10 wins, eight draws and four defeats in their previous 22 meetings.

“We watch every single game when it comes to the other two teams, but for us it’s about staying on course, knowing our way and doing what we need to do importantly,” Chiefs defender Dillan Solomons said.

“We know what we want to achieve, and we can’t be focusing on other teams. We are all going into a tight schedule towards the end of the year. We are going to stay the course and do what we need to do. We’ll focus on what we can control, which is our games.

“You can’t take any team for granted when it comes to playing against Chiefs. They step up their game. We, as players, know that every game is going to be a fight. They’ll come at us hard.

“But every team has strengths and weaknesses. We are focusing on ourselves and what we can do to break down other teams. I think we are managing games better this season, and we are ready for the challenge over the weekend.”

Chiefs’ away form has been decent since that goalless draw in Polokwane.

Their last eight games on the road have produced three wins, four draws and a single defeat, which came against Siwelele in a surprise result in April.

They will hope to turn more of those draws into wins in the coming months.
