"He has to honour his contract, and we stick to the rules. That's why we're not working on anything concrete at the moment," said team manager Richard Plugge to Dutch broadcaster NOS on the sidelines of the Tour de France in Carcassonne.
"But if he decides to join another team, we are convinced that we can support him best and help him win the Grand Tours."
However, Plugge admitted that he is not alone in his interest. "Everyone wants him," he said.
Among the suitors for the young star, who is under contract with the French team Decathlon-CMA CGM until the end of 2027, are said to be especially Tadej Pogacar's UAE team and the British team Netcompany Ineos.
Hype around the expensive Seixas
However, Plugge made it clear that his team is currently fully focused on the two-time Tour winner Vingegaard.
"Jonas is currently our great captain. But we also have to think about the future," he said.
An initial meeting with Seixas took place last year at the Tour de l'Avenir. Seixas is currently riding his first Tour de France, making him the youngest Tour participant since 1937. Experts see him as a rider who could define an era.
"He is a chosen one, a messiah," said FDJ team manager Marc Madiot.
Ultimately, for Seixas, it could come down to finances above all. Due to France's tax system, Decathlon would have to invest far more than other teams to pay Seixas the same amount.
"We are convinced that we can offer Paul everything he needs to win. As for the contractual aspects, we are ready," said team CEO Dominique Serieys.
