Vincent Kompany’s table-topping Championship side headed into this Lancashire derby on the back of a thumping 4-0 victory over Huddersfield Town. Meanwhile, League One Fleetwood travelled to Turf Moor on a run of six games without defeat in all competitions.

The Clarets eventually saw off Fleetwood’s stubborn resistance late in the game when Roberts cheekily flicked in from point-blank range after Lynch had made two commendable saves.
As a result, Burnley, who travel to Fleetwood’s rivals Blackpool at the weekend, extended their unbeaten run at home in all competitions to 21 games.
