Jorge Sampaoli’s struggling Sevilla side were comfortable 2-0 winners against Real Mallorca, with Los Rojiblancos now unbeaten in each of their last four home matches in LaLiga.

In need of a result to alleviate their woes at the bottom of the LaLiga table, Sevilla cruised to a half-time advantage, dispatching Mallorca with relative ease.

It started with Youssef En Nesyri, who needed just one touch after breaking in behind the Mallorca backline, before rocketing the game’s opening goal beyond goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.

The hosts’ second arrived via Bryan Gil, who netted his first goal since arriving back at Sevilla with a close-range tap-in, following impressive work from Jesús Navas to fashion an opportunity.

Mallorca had entered this clash with one eye on the European spaces, whereas for Sevilla this season is now all about survival. Despite the gap in the table, it was the home side that continued to look the most comfortable throughout the second period.

En Nesyri the man who was more often than not at the heart of all things great for Sampaoli’s side, with the Moroccan international coming close to his second goal of the evening.

Lee Kang-in would threaten a consolation goal for the fairly toothless Mallorca, but the South Korean international’s free-kick effort was comfortably tipped over the crossbar by Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

It was too little too late as far as Mallorca boss Javier Aguirre was concerned, with his side well below par for most of the contest.

Mallorca remain in the top half, but only just, with the Los Piratas now just four points above Sevilla in the LaLiga table.
