The Cranes will face Tunisia away before hosting Libya in the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign. The Cranes will also play DR Congo in international friendlies as part of the upcoming fixtures to conclude the FIFA break of 16 days from September 21st to October 6th.
Just like Kenya and Tanzania, Uganda have already qualified for the 2027 AFCON edition as co-host, and will use the qualifying matches as part of their preparations for the tournament slated for East Africa.
Uganda have qualified for the AFCON just eight times in their history, and their most memorable run came in 1978 when they reached the final.
The Cranes last qualified for AFCON in Egypt 2019 after topping Group L of the qualifying phase with 13 points.
Uganda was placed in group A alongside hosts Egypt, DR Congo and Zimbabwe, garnering four points to advance to the round of 16 where they were eliminated by Senegal.
The 2027 edition will be staged in East Africa for the first time in 51 years, with 24 teams to be confirmed for the finals, which are to be staged from June 19th to July 17th.
Sibbick has 10 caps for Uganda
Sibbick made his international debut in a friendly against Ghana in March 2024. He has been called up for a further six camps since then and has made 10 appearances thus far.
His most recent appearances for the Cranes came in the 2025 African Cup of Nations finals in Morocco, where they were eliminated in the group stage.
The 27-year-old defender has played every minute of Albion’s campaign so far this season but will miss the games against Plymouth Argyle and Huddersfield Town whilst on international duty.

The midfield revolves around Baba Alhassan – Mardin 1996 Spor (Turkey), Noble Okello – Lexington SC (USA), Kenneth Semakula – Al Ittihad Alexandria Club (Egypt), Allan Oyirwoth – Dunfermline FC (Scotland) and Joseph Seremba – Nairobi United FC (Kenya).
Speaking after naming the squad, the Belgian tactician said he was pleased with the current form, fitness and commitment of the summoned players and believes they have what it takes to deliver good results for Uganda.
Put further clarified why several regulars will not be part of this window. He confirmed that Jordan Obita and Elio Capradossi are out with injuries and wished them a speedy recovery.
Other notable absentees include captain Khalid Aucho, Salim Jamal, Uche Ikpeazu, John Paul Dembe, Bobosi Byaruhanga and Jude Ssemugabi.
According to Put, some are currently without clubs or have just completed transfers and have not had enough playing time, while others have recently returned from long injuries and are yet to regain full match rhythm, with limited minutes in recent games.
Kenya (Group D), Uganda (Group H) and Tanzania (Group L) are automatically qualified as co-hosts of the historic PAMOJA 2027 event. Therefore, in Groups D, H and L, only the highest-ranked team (outside the host country) will qualify for the finals.
