The teams have clashed 11 times since March 2022 and Golden Arrows have won seven of them, to go with four victories for Chiefs.
That includes a 1-0 away MTN8 quarter-final success for Abafana Bes’thende earlier this season.
Chiefs only have a lower win ratio (36.4%) against AmaZulu (27.3%) and Mamelodi Sundowns (7.1%) among teams they have played 10 times or more in that period.
There has not been a draw between the sides since 2020, a somewhat odd statistic given these are two sides who generally play to plenty of them.
Golden Arrows have drawn four of their six league games (W1 L1) this season, scoring only three goals, but at the same time conceding just three as well. That does not suggest a lot of goals in this one, with no club seeing fewer goals at either end than the Durban side.
Chiefs have three draws from their six games (W3) and are one of three sides still unbeaten in the league this campaign. Sundowns (W6 D2) and Orlando Pirates (W5 D1) are the others.
Chiefs are unbeaten in six games on the road since a 2-0 loss at Siwelele in April. They have three wins and three draws in that run, including a disappointing 1-1 draw at Polokwane City last weekend.
“Obviously, we were disappointed not to get the win against Polokwane, but we have had a week to prepare for this one and it’s going to be an interesting game because we have played them already and we know it won’t be an easy ride. But it’s very important for us to go into the break on the back of a positive result,” Chiefs midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu told the club's website.
“They are a possession-based side that is also dangerous in transition, so they are tricky to play against, but we have our own tactical plan that will nullify their strengths and pose them problems.
“If we want to stay in the title race, this game is vital to us continuing our journey, so whether we win in style or by grinding it out, we want those three points on Sunday.”
