Denmark's friendly against Ukraine was called off after 65 minutes when Christian Eriksen collapsed in a situation reminiscent of when the Danish international suffered a cardiac arrest in the nation's game against Finland at EURO 2021.

Denmark's friendly match against Ukraine was interrupted in the second half when Eriksen collapsed. Help was quickly on hand, and players from both the Danish and Ukrainian teams surrounded him.

After about five minutes, it was reported that the Wolfsburg player was conscious, and later he got on his feet again and was escorted off the pitch by his wife, Sabrina, to the ambulance, while a number of the players on the pitch were crying and clearly emotionally affected.

All Danish and Ukrainian players gathered in a circle after the referee had called off the game, and the players were loudly applauded by the spectators.

The Danish FA has reported on X that Christian Eriksen is conscious and doing well, judging by the circumstances.

"It is a really shocking experience for everyone, said Danish national team coach Brian Riemer to TV 2 Sport after the match was called off.

"The most important thing was, of course, in the first place that we got a message about Christian, and it was handled fantastically by doctor Morten Boesen, who told us that Eriksen was doing well. That was the most important thing."

Danish captain Pierre Emile Hojbjerg also spoke about how he experienced the situation when Eriksen collapsed.

"I can only say how I saw it with my eyes. There was a throw-in, and I quietly walked out to the side. Then I turned around, and I saw that Christian fell to the ground. We knew what that meant, and we responded super quickly and respectfully. Yes ... I can only praise those who took care of it, and Christian himself left the field."

"I can't say much else. You get a shock, don't you? The most important thing is that Christian is well."
