Mallorca produced a breathtaking second-half performance to come from behind and beat Getafe 3-1. A first win in 10 meetings, which was helped much by Lee Kang-in’s double, sends Los Piratas into the top half of the table.

The hosts came close to opening the scoring inside five minutes, as Amath Ndiaye saw his shot from the edge of the box parried away by David Soria.

Getafe then began to take control and made their momentum count when they opened the scoring midway through the first half. By anyone’s admission, the Azulones did so in fortuitous circumstances as Borja Mayoral received the ball inside the Mallorca half, dribbled towards goal and shot from distance; his effort took a wicked deflection off Antonio Raíllo, causing the ball to loop over his goalkeeper and into the net.

After taking the lead, Getafe continued to keep control of proceedings as Mallorca failed to respond after falling behind, and the half petered out with a lack of goalmouth action.

With a whole interval to reflect on their situation, however, the home side came out for the second period with a lot more intent, dominating possession inside the first 10 minutes following the restart.

That domination almost resulted in an equaliser as Muriqi flashed a header agonisingly wide, following Lee's set-piece. The South Korean did then restore parity less than a minute later though as he was the quickest to react to Soria parrying Manu Morlanes’ shot on goal, slotting the rebound in.

With their tails up, Los Piratas were relentless and increased the pressure on a faltering Getafe side, who were just about hanging on. Lee almost doubled his tally for the evening after a brilliant piece of individual skill to dribble past a Getafe defender but his shot flew high and wide.

The one-way traffic continued though, and Mallorca deservedly took their lead just after the hour mark, with Raillo redeeming himself after his earlier deflection as the captain powered a header home.

The visitors could not contain their opponents, and after pushing forward for an equaliser, they left themselves open to the counterattack. Lee took full advantage, breaking clear to wrap up victory in stoppage time, underlining a chastening defeat for the Azulones that leaves them just one point above the relegation zone.
