Newcastle have completed the signing of Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo for a reported fee of 60 million euros plus add-ons (£55m).

The Belgian international joins the Magpies after a successful breakthrough season at Lille, where he netted eight goals and provided five assists in 29 Ligue 1 appearances - earning a call-up for the 2026 World Cup in the process.

Fernandez-Pardo likely completes the puzzle when it comes to Newcastle's summer business following a dramatic reshaping of their squad.

“I’m really, really happy to be here and very proud to be at such a big club," he said.

“I spoke to the head coach and he really showed how much he wanted me to be here. In terms of my own career progression, it made complete sense to come so I didn't hesitate at all.

“I know the club, I know about the stadium, I know it's a fantastic atmosphere. I've followed the team. What I've seen is a team that's very ambitious, wants to attack, get forward, really chase teams and go after them, and that's really something I want to take part in as well."

The likes of Kieran Trippier, Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes have all left the club, with Matthias Jaissle replacing Eddie Howe as manager.

Fernandez-Pardo joins fellow summer arrivals Ewen Jaouen, Bazoumana Toure, Sean Steur, Aladji Bamba, Lukas Hornicek, Amar Dedic and Nico Gonzalez.

The winger has signed a five-year deal and could make his debut when Newcastle face Bournemouth on Saturday, September 5th.
