Another scintillating weekend of Premier League action means Manchester City have moved one step closer to winning the title.

City strolled to a 3-0 win at Everton on Sunday afternoon before challengers Arsenal faltered by the same scoreline at home to Brighton.

The way the results have panned out means City now boast a four-point lead at the top while still having a game in hand over the Gunners, who have just two fixtures remaining in their charge.

So with the season approaching its conclusion, when can Pep Guardiola's men win the Premier League?

As good a fight as Arsenal have presented, City could actually win the title as early as this weekend without even kicking a ball.

Arsenal travel to relegation-battlers Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening and a defeat would see Man City crowned champions for a third season in a row before they host Chelsea on Sunday.

This scenario means Arsenal will be restricted to a maximum tally of 84 points, which they could reach by winning against Wolves on the final day of the campaign.

While Guardiola in particular would no doubt prefer the simplicity of that scenario, Arsenal being held to a draw at Forest would not complicate things too much.

City would then need just one point to seal the title, assuming they do not lose their last three games, Arsenal beat Wolves and they do not suffer a 19-goal swing in the process.

If Arsenal beat Forest, City will need to match that by winning against Chelsea to claim the title.

A Man City defeat to the Blues, coupled with an Arsenal win, would then push the title race to another week with the former's next opportunity to seal the deal against Brighton on May 24th.

Of course, Arsenal are not mathematically ruled out of the running, although the odds appear to be stacked against them.

Mikel Arteta will need his side to take maximum points against Forest and Wolves and also hope City do not take more than one point from their final three games.

However, two draws would realistically see City clinch honours owing to their superior goal difference, with the gap currently sitting at +20.
