After winning the Premier League in his maiden season on Merseyside, the 47-year-old Dutchman has been under fire throughout the season after failing to fight the top teams in the Premier League. The Reds are currently in fifth, trailing leaders Arsenal by 15 points.
According to Sky Sports, Arne Slot is set to stay at Liverpool despite underperforming in the league and failing to win a single trophy this season. The seven-point gap between Liverpool and Chelsea puts the former in a prime position to qualify for the League Phase of next season's UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show that it's looking like the Dutchman will stay put.
"There's probably a split in the Liverpool supporters over whether he should stay or go, but the noises I am hearing is Slot will be the Liverpool manager next season if they can secure Champions League qualification, which they look like doing right now," he said during the broadcast.
Earlier in April, Slot himself said he felt full support from both the board and the fans: "Everyone at the club knows the situation we’re in, but I still feel their full support. Strange as it may sound, I still feel a lot of support from the fans too," he said in a pre-match press conference before meeting Fulham on April 11th.
Over 52 games across all competitions in the 2025/26 season, Liverpool have won 27 and lost 18, scoring 94 goals and conceding 71 along the way. The Reds were recently knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by holders Paris Saint-Germain, who bested Liverpool 4-0 over two quarter-final legs.
Arne Slot is under contract with Liverpool until June 2027.
