Danish champions AGF on Sunday afternoon boosted their campaign to qualify for the Superliga playoffs when they secured a 2-0 win against AC Horsens at home.

After a dismal start to the season, AGF on Sunday moved a step closer to securing a spot in the league's top half.

Playing at home in Vejlby, the Aarhus side secured a 2-0 victory over newly promoted AC Horsens, with goals from 22-year-old Jacob Andersen in the 53rd minute and 20-year-old Stefen Tchamche in the 87th minute.

As a result, AGF climbs to eighth place in the standings, sitting just one point behind AC Horsens and two points behind OB.

However, Sunday’s clash between these top-six contenders could easily have taken a different turn had AC Horsens shown more composure in front of goal during promising opportunities just before and after AGF’s opening strike.

The first half-hour was an unattractive affair devoid of clear-cut chances, but AGF began to take control as the interval approached. James Bogere sent a header just over the bar, while Jacob Andersen saw his attempt denied by a sharp reflex save from Matej Delac—though the young defender would go on to redeem himself later.

The visitors, dressed in yellow, rarely threatened AGF’s goal before the break, but the second half began with a promising spell of play from Horsens.

Jesper Hansen produced an excellent save to deny a scissors kick from Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan before AGF struck at the other end. Jacob Andersen played a one-two with Callum McCowatt inside the penalty area before smashing the ball into the net with his left foot, celebrating the first senior goal of his career with great enthusiasm.

The experienced Jakob Bonde should have equalized with a free header shortly after, and AC Horsens had several other promising chances to level the score before AGF sealed the match in the final minutes with Stefen Tchamche steering the ball home following a hard, low cross from Jacob Andersen.
