The Black Stars face England, Panama and Croatia across three iconic North American cities this summer. Flashscore takes you through everything you need to know.

Ghana are back on the world stage for a fifth time. The 2026 edition of the Mundial will be the two decades since the Black Stars made their first appearance at the global showpiece.

Ghana have appeared at the FIFA World Cup on four previous occasions; in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022.

Their finest hour came in 2010 in South Africa, when Asamoah Gyan's goals fired them all the way to the quarter-finals, where a Luis Suárez handball on the goal line and the resulting missed penalty  denied them a place in the semi-finals in one of the most heartbreaking moments in tournament history.

At the 2022 edition in Qatar, Mohammed Kudus was the standout performer, scoring twice as Ghana exited at the group stage. The Black Stars will be hoping North America provides the stage for a far more memorable story.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, running from June 11 to July 19, with the final taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Black Stars are hoping to replicate or surpass their historic 2010 run in South Africa, where they reached the quarter-finals.

Here is everything you need to know about Ghana's 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Where will Ghana play their FIFA World Cup games?

Ghana's World Cup campaign opens on June 17 against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada. The stadium, which will be known as Toronto Stadium throughout the tournament in line with FIFA's policy on corporate-sponsored names, has had its capacity expanded to 45,736 for the World Cup. This makes it the smallest venue in the tournament, though it remains the only soccer-specific stadium in the United States or Canada to be awarded host venue status.

Ghana and England on June 23 will be hosted at the Gillette Stadium, located in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in the greater Boston metropolitan area, will host World Cup 2026 matches under the name of Boston Stadium. The stadium will have a tournament capacity of approximately 65,000 for its seven matches.

Ghana's FIFA World Cup knockouts schedule

Should Ghana win Group L, they will advance to face the third-placed team from Group E, H, I, J or K in the Round of 32.

As group runners-up, they would face the runners-up of Group K. A third-place finish could also be enough to advance, provided Ghana are among the eight best third-placed teams across all 12 groups.

Ghana's FIFA World Cup Preparation

Ghana's preparations for the tournament have been shaped by significant change. Carlos Queiroz was appointed as head coach in April following the sacking of Otto Addo, and the experienced Portuguese tactician has been handed a mandate to guide the Black Stars to the quarter-finals.

The Black Stars faced Austria and Germany in March's international window before the coaching change and will now face Mexico and Wales as their final warm-up fixtures before departing for North America.

The warm-up schedule looks as follows:

Friday, March 27th: Austria – Ghana (5-1)

Monday, March 30th: Germany – Ghana (2-1)

Friday, May 22nd: Mexico – Ghana (20:00 GMT, Puebla)

Tuesday, June 2nd: Wales – Ghana (12:00 GMT, Cardiff)

Ghana’s final friendly ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, who they’ll face in the United States, is yet to be announced.
