19 - AZ Alkmaar were unable to do what they did in 2022/23 and reach the last four. The Dutch side drew 2-2 against Shakhtar Donetsk, allowing the Ukrainians to progress 5-2 over the two legs. De Kaasboeren were the last club from the Eredivisie in what was a tough year for Dutch football in continental play. Ismaila Sarr's header 17 minutes in put the Eagles in a strong position. In the end, they held off their Italian opponents despite conceding twice. They are up against Shakhtar in the last four, another former European winner. Thursday's result was the third time they have lost in the UECL this term. They also mustered three shots on target in the return leg.
0 - The only team to overturn their first leg loss were Strasbourg, who got past Mainz 4-0 on the night, winning 4-2 on aggregate. Multiple trophies are potentially in play for Le Racing, who are also competing in the Coupe de France semis. Two goals in each half did the trick for them as they have qualified for a continental semi-final for the first time. In what was their third tie against a German team, Strasbourg have conceded zero goals at home in those matches.
17 - What a disastrous turn of events for Mainz, who had a wonderful performance at home last week. Now, they are the ones on the wrong side of a big defeat, one that ultimately knocked them out of the Conference League. Die Nullfunfer had just one attempt on target in the whole 90 minutes, which played a role in their UECL run coming to a close. Across their five European away losses all-time, they have conceded 17 times.
