The Utah Mammoth earned their first home playoff win in franchise history on Friday night with a 4-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights, taking a 2-1 series lead.

Despite being outshot a brutal 31-12, the Mammoth found a way, as it marked the first-ever playoff win seen by a Utah home crowd in the history of the NHL.

Utah goaltender Karel Vejmelka put up 29 saves en route to the Mammoth's win.

Game 4 between the Mammoth and Golden Knights is scheduled for April 27th.

Recap & Highlights

Despite being outshot 18-8 at one point, the Utah Mammoth got out to a commanding lead that Vegas was unable to rally back from.

Mackenzie Weegar got things started for the Mammoth with his second goal of the playoffs to make it 1-0

Three minutes later, Utah would go on their first power play of the game after Vegas' Brayden McNabb received a two-minute minor for high-sticking.

Dylan Guenther took advantage and scored his second goal of the series to put the Mammoth up 2-0 with under three minutes to go in the first.

Logan Cooley and Clayton Keller both recorded their first assists of the playoffs on the goal.

Entering the second period, which only saw one penalty (Utah), the Mammoth would continue to pile on their lead.

Lawson Crouse scored his first goal of the series to make it 3-0. Much like on Guenther's goal, Nick Schmaltz and Weegar both picked up their first assists of the playoffs.

Crouse found the net a second time to give the Mammoth a 4-0 lead. It was the fastest two goals (5:42) by one player of any team in these playoffs

Utah's four goals marked the first time in this series that the Mammoth had scored more than three in a game, doing so in just the first two periods of Game 3.

Vegas would finally get on the board themselves heading into the third period down by three.

Jack Eichel scored his first goal of the playoffs, while Mark Stone and Ivan Barbashev recorded their first assists, to cut the Utah lead to 4-1.

Vegas entered the third, outshooting Utah 23-11. The Mammoth committed a whopping 18 giveaways to Vegas' eight.

Not much was going on for most of the third until Vegas started to show some life late.

Nic Dowd scored his second of the playoffs for Vegas to cut the lead to 4-2 with 3:08 remaining in the game.

But after going to an empty net with two minutes to go, Vegas couldn't surmount a rally as the series is now 2-1 in Utah's favor.
