As we move into the penultimate month of 2026, Halloween Weekend is serving up far more treats than tricks for sports fans, with some of the biggest games of the football season taking place and history set to be made in Formula 1.

These are the events you don't want to miss across the final day of October and the first of November.

Saturday, October 31st

Chelsea vs Manchester United - 13:30 CET

Chelsea host Man Utd on Sunday lunchtime in one of the Premier League’s most iconic rivalries.

All the talk before the game has been centred around the situation at Man Utd as INEOS surprisingly decided to keep Michael Carrick as head coach despite a pitiful defeat at home to Bournemouth last weekend.

It was the latest chapter in a saga that has seen Man Utd make their worst start to a season in 40 years. Seven points from eight games and just one league win is stuff of nightmares, and it goes without saying the pressure is on Carrick to get three points this weekend. Whether he should be in that position or if he should have been put out of his misery is another matter.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is also in need of a win after his worst week yet as boss since taking the reins in the summer. His side were beaten 2-0 at home to London rivals Tottenham last weekend for only the second time in 36 years; it was a tepid performance and not the first one since Alonso came in. And it came at a time when Chelsea had just started to look like a team heading in a positive direction after back-to-back wins against Bournemouth and Everton.

Losing on penalties to rivals Liverpool in the Carabao Cup midweek was damning, and defeat against a Man Utd side in crisis would be the cherry on top of a disastrous week for Alonso.

This feels like more of a must-not-lose for both managers, but will either Chelsea or Man Utd fans really accept a draw considering their recent results? A win will do little to quiet the noise around Carrick's future, but it would be a crucial one for Alonso after a challenging week.

With a relatively good run of fixtures coming up, Chelsea have a chance to get things back on track. And it should be the perfect opportunity to get some momentum in a positive direction at home to this Man Utd side.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund - 18:30 CET

It has been a week of note off the pitch for Bayern, as attention turns to Der Klassiker on Saturday evening.

First, there was genuine concern for manager Vincent Kompany, who collapsed at training last Friday and remains absent from the squad despite reports that he is improving. Then came Harry Kane's Ballon d'Or victory on Monday, a success born out of his incredible form for the reigning Bundesliga champions, something that has not shown signs of slowing down during the early rounds of this campaign.

On Saturday, without Kompany on the touchline, they welcome arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund to town in what is a Klassiker with a lot riding on it. In recent times, this derby has taken a backseat due to Bayern's domestic dominance; however, going into the weekend, they are level on points atop the Bundesliga, and both are unbeaten.

Bayern's assistant coach Aaron Danks expects "no big changes" for the clash, meaning Dortmund will have to deal with the likes of Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz if they are to get a result at the Allianz Arena. One positive has been their defensive record so far this year, conceding the lowest number of goals in the league, showing they have the ability to stop Bayern's titanic frontline.

Goals have been a struggle, though. They have netted 12 times in seven games, compared to Bayern's 26 and Dortmund will know that getting the best out of Serhou Guirassy will go a long way to securing a win.

If they can do it, it doesn't throw the title race wide open at this early stage, but it will send a message to the rest of the German top flight that Bayern are beatable this season.

AC Milan vs Inter - 20:45 CET

We've got a Serie A spectacle to sink our teeth into on Saturday evening as AC Milan host their cross-city rivals, Inter, in the Derby della Madonnina, for what is surely the pick of the action in the late slot around Europe.

Milan's unbeaten start to the league season was snapped in midweek, when they suffered a surprise 4-2 home loss to Bologna, but before that, you have to say Ruben Amorim's reign had gotten off to a promising start.

Putting aside that loss and two in the Europa League, the Rossoneri had started life under the Portuguese with six wins from nine, as well as draws away at the likes of Lazio and Juventus. That's nothing to scoff at, but Inter pose a sterner challenge, perhaps.

Cristian Chivu's table-toppers have similarly lost twice in Europe this season, but have dropped just two points in Serie A after nine rounds, scoring 25 goals in the process.

The reigning Italian champions are favourites to defend their Scudetto, and even boast stronger odds than their hosts to win at the weekend, but they haven't had it all their way in the derby of late...

In fact, Milan won both meetings in the league last season, 1-0 on each occasion. And what's more, you have to go back to April 2024 for the last time Inter came out on top in this tie. That is remarkable when you consider the Nerazzurri have finished above their rivals in the league for the last four years running.

As they say, form goes out the window in derbies, and Milan will be fully focused on producing another upset on Saturday and dealing a first loss of the campaign to Inter, who are still without their injured captain Lautaro Martinez.

Liverpool vs Arsenal - 17:30 CET

Two of the Premier League’s top four meet on Sunday afternoon, as Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool welcome reigning champions Arsenal to Anfield in a mouthwatering clash.

Having experienced contrasting fortunes in midweek League Cup action, both sides will be determined to lay down an early-season marker this weekend, with Mikel Arteta’s men currently six points ahead of the Reds in the table.

Despite winning seven of their opening eight league games, the Gunners head into the contest on the back of a harrowing cup defeat to fourth-tier Fleetwood Town. That result, combined with a 13-match winless league run at Anfield (D5, L8), points to a challenging afternoon for the North London outfit.

As for Liverpool, they’ve bounced back superbly from a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in early October, winning five straight games across all competitions, including a shootout triumph over Chelsea on Wednesday.

Iraola looks to have settled quickly on Merseyside, with the Spaniard helped by the burgeoning partnership of Virgil van Dijk and Jeremy Jacquet in defence, as well as the free-scoring form of Alexander Isak in attack.

The Reds could ignite an unlikely title charge with a win on Sunday, while Arsenal could strengthen their position as overwhelming favourites to defend their crown. Make sure you tune in!

Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens - 19:00 CET

The two AFC powerhouses with two MVP quarterbacks are meeting for the fourth time in just the past three years.

Buffalo took down Baltimore in Week 1 of the 2025 season after beating them in the playoffs early that year - both games decided by a total of three points.

Ravens superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson has been a full participant in practice all week after being out the previous three-and-a-half games with a high ankle sprain. He'll try to get the Ravens (4-3) back to winning ways if he's able to go. They've gone 1-2 in his absence.

On the other side, Bills QB Josh Allen will look to extend the team's winning streak after coming off back-to-back victories against the Las Vegas Raiders (33-30) and Los Angeles Rams (34-30, OT). They're looking to start the season 6-1 for the first time since 2022.

Both teams have a top-10 offence, but their defensive woes have been the most noticeable. The Bills' defence currently ranks 31st (out of 32) in the NFL, giving up a brutal 386.8 yards per game and 28.5 points per game.

Meanwhile, despite the Ravens' defence ranking 12th, they currently have the worst second-half point differential (-70) of any team in the NFL. Ironically, they have the best point differential (+65) in the first half. They're coming off a brutal 35-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, where they gave up all 35 of those points in the second half, all while scoring none themselves.

The Ravens are averaging a 31st-ranked 6.3 points per game in the second half. That spells trouble for this matchup as the Bills rank fourth, scoring 15.0 points per second half this season.

The Mexican Grand Prix - 21:00 CET

Despite winning the United States Grand Prix last weekend, Kimi Antonelli was unable to officially become Formula 1's youngest world champion ever, but he'll surely do so on Sunday.

The 20-year-old heads into the race in Mexico City 123 points clear at the top of the standings, and will therefore seal the 2026 title with a top-nine finish, regardless of how teammate George Russell and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton do. Given he's crossed the line inside the top five in all but one of the races he's finished this season, you can expect to witness some history.

That's not the only reason to tune in though, with titanic battles brewing behind the Italian and Mercedes in the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships. There's little to choose between Russell, Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc in the drivers' standings, and Red Bull are level on points with McLaren in the fight to be the third highest-scoring team.

That latter battle is especially crucial, with millions of dollars up for grabs for whoever wins, and both are extremely hard to call with less and less to choose between the top four teams as the season nears its conclusion.

In short, stick on the Mexican Grand Prix, and you're likely to be treated to some thrilling, high-stakes racing, and a title triumph that will be spoken about for decades to come.
