The San Francisco 49ers are expected to move on from linebacker De'Vondre Campbell (31) after he refused to go in for the team and play during Thursday's matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan stressed that the team is currently figuring out the logistics of moving on from Campbell after his actions on Thursday.

"His actions from the game is just not something you can do to your team or your teammates and still expect to be a part of our team," said Shanahan. "So we're working through exactly the semantics of it right now, but we'll handle the situation appropriately."

Teammate Charvarius Ward spoke on the incident after the game, voicing his strong stance and even calling Campbell's release before this news broke.

The nine-year veteran Campbell has 79 tackles (three for loss) and two pass deflections in his first season with the 49ers. The former All-Pro linebacker signed a one-year, $5 million deal with the team in the offseason and will be an unrestricted free agent sooner than when his contract is up thanks to his behavior.

This action comes shortly after Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Diontae Johnson did the same thing recently in the team's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles but was only suspended for one game.
