The San Francisco 49ers have released kicker Jake Moody after a disappointing performance against the Seattle Seahawks.

Moody, 25, was on thin ice after missing 10 field goals at a 70.4% FG percentage during the 2024 season and missed two more kicks against the Seattle Seahawks. The former Michigan Wolverine hit the left upright from 27 yards before having a 36-yard try blocked in the third quarter of the Niners' 17-13 win.

On Tuesday, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that the 49ers are waiving Jake Moody two seasons after picking him with the 99th pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.

After waiving veteran kicker Greg Joseph in August, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed on Monday that the team were looking at alternatives. "There are options, just whether it's stay status quo, bringing guys for workouts, or practice squad. But we're going through all that stuff right now."

After returning in week 10 following an injury, Moody finished the 2024 season with 11 made field goals from 20 tries, as well as a missed extra point.

Moody's most infamous miss came against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII, when he missed an extra point that could've won the 49ers the game before overtime.
