Richmond won only seven of the 46 games played under Yze across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, finishing 18th in 2024 with a 2-21 record, improving by five wins and one ladder placing in 2025 with the highlight of their year coming in the surprise Round 1 victory over Carlton.
Despite not being able to deliver on the promise of that outstanding season-opener, club administrators expressed "great confidence in the direction" the club is heading in under Yze's stewardship.
The club pointed towards a 7% decrease in their points conceded this season compared with last as an additional indication of improvement, whilst noting that Yze blooded nine debutants and should be afforded patience and support as he steers the struggling club through a long-term rebuild.
“Adem is a highly driven coach who is crystal clear with his plans, communication, and expectations of how he wants the game to be played,” said CEO Shane Dunne on Monday morning in a club release.
“He has elite personal qualities, has built strong relationships over the past two years, and has a shared hunger for success with the playing group.
“Adem’s excellent understanding of AFL strategy and his sharp knowledge of the game are major assets, and they will continue to shine in the coming years.
“We are really excited about what is to come and look forward to seeing Adem continue to lead the group and this Club into our next period of AFL success.”
