The Arizona Diamondbacks signed starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt to a five-year extension worth $45 million, according to multiple reports.

The deal includes a 2031 club option worth $21 million and then a $25 million mutual option the following year.

Pfaadt's new deal will start in 2026 and will avoid his remaining arbitration years.

The 26-year-old pitcher spent his first two seasons with the D'Backs after making his debut in 2023.

Last season, Pfaadt threw a 4.71 ERA in 32 starts with an 11-10 record, striking out 185 batters in 181.2 innings while only walking 42.

His spring training numbers were less than favorable (4.80 ERA, 18 hits in 15 innings) but the organization has faith in their young starter going forward.
