Bard played his first five seasons with the Boston Red Sox (2009-2013) and the last four with the Colorado Rockies (2020-2023), also playing for Team USA in the 2023 Winter Classic.
The 40-year-old signed a minor league deal with the Seattle Mariners prior to this season but never made the major league roster.
Bard had a six-year gap between both teams due to a bad case of "the yips," following a rough two seasons for Boston that led to his absence, even quitting pitching entirely after taking a player development job with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
After signing with the Rockies in 2020, Bard went on to win the National League Comeback Player of the Year after posting a 3.65 earned run average in 24.2 innings.
The former 28th overall pick in the 2006 MLB Draft out of North Carolina finished his major league career with a solid 3.74 ERA over 408 games.
