Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene (25) and San Diego Padres ace Dylan Cease (29) both left their respective games on Thursday night due to injuries.

Greene left the game in the fourth inning with a right groin injury that appeared to happen while warming up.

The team's ace threw three shutout innings (53 pitches), giving up just two hits while striking out six batters and walking none.

Greene is 4-2 on the year with a stellar 2.53 earned run average (ERA) and 0.82 WHIP (walks-hits per inning pitched).

Cincinnati went on to win the game 4-3 to improve to 19-19 on the year.

Dylan Cease

After throwing what was almost a no-hitter, Cease left the game after what he seemed to have described as his forearm cramping up.

Cease left the game after 6.2 innings while giving up just one run on one hit while walking two and striking out nine.

The start for Cease was a nice turnaround with an unfortunate ending given the season he's been having.

Cease is currently 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA and 1.41 WHIP this year.

The Padres and Yankees game is currently tied up 3-3 heading into extra innings. (Update: Final - Yankees 4-3 Padres)
