After the success of a similar marketing stunt involving travelling Scottish supporters in Miami, Major League Baseball (MLB) club Texas Rangers have extended an offer to the thousands of Australian fans descending upon Dallas this week.

The Rangers have reserved hundreds of discounted seats exclusively for travelling Socceroos supporters heading to Dallas for Australia's FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match against Egypt.

Ticket prices have been cut to US$36 (US$52) for a corner section overlooking the right foul line of Globe Life Field for the Rangers' Thursday night game against Detroit Tigers, the first of a three-game series.

The Rangers are currently in fifth place of the American League standings

"All Aussies coming to the Dallas/Fort Worth area are invited to the ballpark Thursday night," a post from a Rangers' social media account to the Socceroos sub-Reddit stated,

"We're reserving discounted seats for your group and would love to see an Aussie takeover! 7th inning shoeys are highly encouraged!"

The Rangers' marketing team must have drawn inspiration from a June away game against the Marlins in Miami, during which a 'Tartan Army Takeover' saw hundreds of Scottish supporters filling the stands and even entertaining locals with a pre-game bagpipe display.

The Aussies and the Scots aren't the only travelling supporters to have enjoyed a day out at the ballpark between matchdays, with Norwegian fans also seen at a New York Mets game the day after their team defeated Senegal 3-2 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
