New York Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler reached the 200-strikeout milestone for the first time in his young career on Friday against the Boston Red Sox.

Schlittler, 25, recorded No. 200 after punching out Nick Sogard on a cutter almost over the heart of the plate. He became just the fifth pitcher this season to reach the 200 mark, joining Jacob Misiorowski, Dylan Cease, Gavin Williams, and Jesus Luzardo

He finished his start after going 5.2 innings, giving up two hits and five walks with eight total strikeouts. In just his second MLB season, the 2026 All-Star is now tossing an American League-leading 2.09 ERA.

The former 2022 seventh-round pick made waves last season as a rookie after posting a 2.96 ERA through 14 starts. Now, he's in the running for an AL Cy Young Award as the Yankees (75-58) also try to chase division rival Tampa Bay Rays (79-54) for the best record in the American League.
