Turkey have reached the Eurobasket semi-finals for the first time in 24 years with a win over Poland.

The team captained by NBA Houston Rockets youngster Alperen Sengün defeated Poland 91-77 in the quarter-finals in Riga.

Sengun shone in front of 3463 spectators with a triple-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, while Jordan Loyd and Mateusz Ponitka scored 19 points each for Poland.

The Turks had reached the European Championship final on home soil back in 2001 but lost to Yugoslavia, and will now have to beat Greece if they want to make it to the decider again.

Poland meanwhile missed the chance to reach a Eurobasket semi-final for the second time in a row. In 2022, they ended up losing the bronze medal to the Germans in Berlin.
