Keen to build some momentum after a disappointing FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign where they finished fifth in the CONMEBOL standings, Brazil started on the front foot against South Korea.
Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior missed the target with a couple of early efforts from range, but a breakthrough soon arrived in the 13th minute, as Estevao timed his run to perfection to clinically sweep home from Bruno Guimaraes’ inch-perfect pass.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side looked to press home their advantage as the first half progressed, with Rodrygo seeing a powerful low strike superbly thwarted by Jo Hyeon-woo before Eder Militao directed a close-range header wastefully over the bar.
Not to be denied, Brazil deservedly doubled their lead four minutes before half-time, as Rodrygo created a yard of space for himself in the box and curled a fine finish into the far corner from eight yards.
The Selecao carried their momentum into the early stages of the second period, scoring twice in as many minutes.
First, Estevao capitalised on a mistake from Kim Min-jae to confidently convert his second of the match, before Rodrygo also notched a brace, tucking home expertly from Vinicius' assist.
The one-way traffic showed no signs of slowing down with time ticking into the final half-hour, and Brazil netted a fifth in the 77th minute when Vinicius raced onto Matheus Cunha’s through ball and finished coolly between the legs of Jo.
That put the seal on a convincing display from Ancelotti’s side, who secured a morale-boosting victory after winning just three of their last eight FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
