The Cincinnati Reds now sit one game behind the New York Mets for the third National League Wild Card spot after their 6-3 win over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.

New York fell to 80-75 after their loss to the Washington Nationals, while the Reds improved to 79-76.

Spencer Steer, TJ Friedl, and Tyler Stephenson all homered for the Reds as the team put up nine hits.

Starting pitcher Zack Littell earned his 10th win of the year - the first time he's ever reached double-digit wins in a season - after giving up just two runs on three hits, two of which were solo homers, through five innings of work. He also struck out four and walked one.

Closer Emilio Pagan earned his 29th save of the season and lowered his earned run average to 3.06 following a shutout inning.

Cinci has now won five of their last six games. Their two wins against the Cubs also mark back-to-back series wins. They wrap up their three-game series with the Cubs on Sunday, looking for their first sweep since the Tampa Bay Rays between July 25-27.

They'll remain at home for three games against the Pittsburgh Pirates before heading out to Milwaukee to face the Brewers in three games to end their season.

If they make the postseason, it'll be their first appearance since 2013 (excluding the shortened 2020 COVID year).
