Alvaro Sagrado (Illes Balears Arabay) and Ander Okamika (Burgos Burpellet BH), and Rémi Daumas (Groupama-FDJ) formed a breakaway group early in the race and held well over three minutes advantage at one point but were caught by the peloton with 19 km to go.
While the uphill finale didn't provide perfect conditions for the typical sprinters in the race, the Uno-X team managed to drag Cort Nielsen into the finale where he stormed to the victory yet again ahead of Martin Marcellusi and Carlos Canal.
Magnus Cort got plenty of help from four teammates in the finale - including Andreas Kron who on the last part of the final climb, helped push Cort to the front.
For a brief moment it seemed as if Magnus Cort would let Andreas Kron take the win as a small gap appeared between the two Danes.
But when the Italian Martin Marcellusi then tried to overtake Andreas Kron on the left, Magnus Cort did not hesitate.
32-year-old Magnus Cort accelerated with plenty of energy left in the tank and in the process even managed to put his sunglasses perfectly in place.
"It's great to win again. It doesn't happen often to win on consecutive days and in the leader's jersey," Cort said after the win
"The team did a super, super job all day and then they brought me back on after the climb and set me up perfectly for the finish."
"I knew the finish was perfect for me because a lot of fast guys had been dropped. This finish was maybe even better than yesterday's stage because only half the bunch survived."
Cort extended his lead thanks to another ten-second stage winner's time bonus. He leads Marcellusi by 14 seconds, with Canal third at 16 seconds.
