'No restrictions': Green to bowl full workload in Perth Test

Cameron Green confirmed on Tuesday he is back to 100% fitness and has no limitations on his overs in Friday's first Test, leaving fellow all-rounder Beau Webster in danger of being dropped.

Green had a restricted workload during Western Australia's one-wicket Sheffield Shield win over Marnus Labuschagne's Queensland in Perth, fulfillling a pre-determined quota of eight overs in each innings with match figures of 1-30 from his 16 overs, including three first innings maidens.

He had previously bowled only four overs in competitive cricket - in a loss to New South Wales in early October - since his comeback from a lengthy layoff caused by a series of back stress fractures that required surgery.

The 26-year-old pulled up from that match with no issues, also facing a total of 81 deliveries with the bat in the match, and told reporters on Tuesday that he'll be going out all guns blazing for Friday's first Test in his home city of Perth.

"It's been a really slow build-up," Green said on Tuesday, "but I probably would have prefered a few more competitive overs."

"But at the same time, it's a double-edged sword, you come into a series so fresh.

"Especially for a five-Test series, you want to be as fresh as you can by the back end."

Green has been batting at number four for Western Australia this season, a position almost certain to be accompanied by stand-in captain Steve Smith for the entire series after Smith's failed experiment as opener.

It's becoming increasingly likely that Marnus Labuschagne, another man who briefly filled in as an opener with poor numbers, will return to number three, not least because he has not been opening in Shield cricket this season.

That would leave Green to drop down to number six below Travis Head and push well-performing Tasmanian Beau Webster out of the XI entirely, to be replaced by state teammate Jake Weatherald at the top of the order.

Green insists he has not been informed of his batting position by team management, saying "I'd be happy to put my hand up whenever."

"The people in charge I think met last night, so I'll probably get told later today," Green added.

"Whichever way they go, I think we've got a really great squad and a lot of great combinations to go with."

"I'm just so grateful that they see me as someone who could do all those positions," Green added.

"Probably how good the coaching staff is that they make you feel really secure regardless of where you're playing, and regardless if you get moved around.

"Very fortunate that they think that way about me, but happy to bat anywhere."
