Taillon, 34, was designated for assignment earlier this week. The veteran is tossing a 5.92 ERA through 15 starts this season, giving up 76 hits and 27 walks in 76 innings with 68 strikeouts.
Taillon made his MLB debut in 2016 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he spent the next four years. He missed out on the 2020 season after undergoing a second Tommy John surgery.
The New York Yankees would pick him up for two years, with a stellar 14-5 season in which he tossed a 3.91 ERA through 32 starts.
In 2023, Taillon joined the Cubs, where he'd have a first rough year (4.84 ERA in 29 starts) before bouncing back in 2024 and 2025 when he tossed a sub-3.70 ERA with 23 combined wins.
