His $23 million annual salary is the most for a closer in MLB history. The previous record? Diaz's five-year, $102 million deal that he signed with the Mets in 2022.
Diaz opted out of the final two years, $38 million he still had left on the table with the Mets before becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Now, free agency's top closer will be joining the back-to-back World Series champion Dodgers.
Diaz won the 2025 National League Reliever of the Year Award this past season and was named to the All-MLB Second team after finishing the year with 28 saves and a 1.63 earned run average.
The 31-year-old closer has recorded at least 20 saves in each of his last four seasons, averaging 97 strikeouts in 61 innings during that time frame.
