For the third year running, Flashscore presents its ranking of the 100 most anticipated players of the upcoming NBA season. In ninth place is Kevin Durant, who is nearing the end of his career but clearly doesn't want to leave without a final ring.

A list of records longer than your arm topped with over 30,000 career points - but "only" two rings. Kevin Durant has only one goal for the end of his career: to add at least one more to his tally.

The problem is that since he left the Golden State Warriors in 2019, all his attempts have turned into psychodramas.

The Nets' project exploded in spectacular fashion. The Suns' project was a source of much laughter last season. Yet, KD continues to string together seasons averaging over 25 points per game, but collectively, his impact has completely disappeared: Phoenix didn't even make the playoffs last season.

With a few hiccups to boot, the end of his career shouldn't turn sour.

So here he is in Houston, who brought him on board with one objective in mind: the title. The squad is packed with quality players, the ambitions are enormous, and yet there is still a small voice saying, "What if he doesn't make it?"

He'll be the best player on the team, that's for sure. But he's only won two playoff series in the last six seasons, and it's a fact that can't be dismissed: his leadership is waning.

There will be plenty of stats, points, mid-range baskets, and winning iso's, as usual. KD remains one of the best forwards in the NBA, but the pressure is immense: to blend this talent together and elevate it to the Holy Grail.

He had Steph Curry for his two rings; he has Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson here. How he drives the Rockets' truck could depend on his legacy.

2024/2025 stats: 26.6 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game, 52.7% shooting, 43% three-point percentage

Projection for 2025/2026: 29.0 points per game, 55% shooting, 45% three-point percentage, NBA Finals appearance
