Freiburg continue to write their own fairytale. After a successful quarter-final second leg against Celta Vigo, the team from Germany have reached the last four of the Europa League. For sporting director Jochen Saier, this success is no coincidence, but still a moment to pause and reflect.

"This is all something extraordinary, something incredible. When I look at how our season started, how far we've come, and the level we're able to play at every three days now, it's truly impressive," said Saier immediately after reaching the semi-finals.

Now, as Saier put it, "the journey continues" and "now we want it all."

He also gave special praise to coach Julian Schuster: "Julian is doing an outstanding job with the group. Concede an early goal in the first 10 minutes, with the atmosphere here, and then things can really get out of hand."

Will Freiburg storm to their first title?

With a spot in the semi-finals secured, the question naturally arises: Can Freiburg actually win the first title in the club's history?

While people in the region of Breisgau are usually known for keeping their feet on the ground, the hunger for more is now clearly noticeable.

When asked about the possibility of winning the title, Saier avoided a direct answer, but left no doubt about the team's ambition: "When you’re in the position we are, of course, you want to keep going and achieve the maximum.

"Simply because it’s a special group and I really have the feeling that this could be a special year."

The club are also in the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal - they face Stuttgart in the last four later in April.
