'I'm definitely disappointed': Aberg still off Masters pace despite improving

Ludvig Aberg has shot rounds of 74, 70 and 69 in a week at the 2026 Masters that has been improving by the day.

The Swede even got the collapse of leader Rory McIlroy he needed to have any chance of putting on the famous green jacket this evening, and will go into Sunday's final round at Augusta tied for 21st place.

However, Aberg is 11 shots off the lead, only one better than he was 24 hours ago, as despite racking up the birdies on Saturday - seven in total - four bogeys prevented a strong round of three-under par from turning into something really special.

A trio of bogeys on holes five to seven was where the bulk of the damage was done, however, he held his nerve and scored six birdies and just one more bogey for the rest of his round, for which he was paired with world number one, Scottie Scheffler.

"Very mixed, I think," said Aberg of his round. "A lot of it was good, of course the back nine was positive. But when I think back on the front nine and the bogeys I made, I left the short shots on the wrong side of the hole. If I clean up my bogeys I would have been happy with the round," he admitted.

The world number 17 is taking part in his third Masters, finishing in the top 10 on his previous two appearances, most notably second place on debut in 2024. He is currently six shots behind the top 10 with 18 holes to play.

"Overall, I'm definitely disappointed. I would have liked to be a little closer to the top than I am. Thursday I could have done a little better. Yesterday I think was okay. Then I definitely could have done a little better today; cleaning up those mistakes and the bogeys when you miss on the wrong side."

Aberg tees off his final round at 18:24 CEST. Fellow Swede Alexander Noren also carded a round of 69 on Saturday, also his best of the week, to improve to one-over par for the tournament, tied for 39th place.
