Ikast Handball on Saturday lost a step in the battle to reach the top two in the Champions League's group B. In a fast and furious encounter, Soren Hansen's team never got into top gear, allowing Jesper Jensen, Mette Tranborg, and Ferencvaros to win 27-24 at home.

Ikast otherwise started the game brightly and were leading 3-1 thanks to Julie Scaglione's two successive goals, but then the home side scored four straight times to seize the initiative.

Powered by Petra Simon and Mette Tranborg in attack, the Hungarian side went on to dominate, even though Ikast continued to fight, and Ferencvaros' biggest lead in the first half was 12-9 after 24 minutes.

Early in the second half, Ikast managed to restore parity at 13-13. Still, a solid defence and multiple saves from Kinga Janurik helped the home side regain the initiative and extend the gap.

Ikast's goalkeeper, Amalie Milling, could not be blamed, as she made 14 saves, but the home side were leading 23-19 with just 10 minutes to play. And even though the visitors reduced the deficit to 26-24 by the last minute, Vilde Ingstad's goal sealed the tie for Jesper Jensen's girls.
