Serbia shock Germany while Sweden and Norway cruise to comfortable wins at the EURO

Serbia recorded a huge surprise in their second game of the European Championships as they booked a sensational 30-27 win against Germany, as Sweden and Norway cruised to fairly comfortable wins against Holland (36-31) and the Czech Republic (29-25) respectively.

Serbia threw Group A wide open by taking a hugely unexpected victory against Germany. Consistently strong defending paid off, and once they had taken the lead, they never looked back.

Goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev had a superb game for the Serbs with 12 saves (31 per cent), but it was left back Stefan Dodić who ran away with the Player of the Match award for a perfect four goals from four attempts, plus five important assists.

Miro Schluroff and Renārs Uščins both scored six times for Germany.

Sweden made a solid start to the tournament in Malmö, despite the Netherlands' best efforts without Luc Steins. Rutger ten Velde couldn't prevent a Dutch defeat despite scoring nine times, including a penalty in the last minute.

Eight goals from Sweden's Felix Claar was enough to give him the Player of the Match award. Mikael Appelgren won the duel of the goalkeepers making 10 stops through the match (36 per cent efficiency). 

Norway on Saturday booked their ticket for the main round with a hard-fought win against the Czechs The Norwegian co-hosts will proceed to the main round, along with France, and the two sides will meet on Monday to see who tops the group.

The Czech Republic played with heart from the start, backed by a simply outstanding goalkeeper Tomáš Mrkva, who produced no less than 17 saves from 45 shots (38 per cent). Torbjorn Bergerud was pretty good too, recording 14 saves from 34 shots (41 per cent). 

August Pedersen was the leading goalscorer for the home side, netting nine times from 10 shots. Left back Jonáš Josef was Czechia's leading goal scorer, with seven goals at the end. And Sander Sagosen is now level with Stefan Lövgren in fourth place on the all-time EURO leading goal scorer list, with 203 goals.
