Helle Thomsen may boast of having an impressive CV after spending more than a decade as a coach at the highest level.
She won two Danish championships and three cup titles with FC Midtjylland (today Ikast Handball) in four seasons from 2012 to 2016.
She has also won silver at the European Championship with Sweden and bronze at World Championships as Dutch national coach.
At club level she has also had a distinguished career with coaching jobs at CSM Bucuresti, Molde, Kastamonu, Nantes, before returning to CSM Bucuresti last year, where she is currently head coach.
If she takes over the job, she will be the 15th national coach for the Danish women's handball team since 1946 and World War II, but she will not actually be the first female national coach as Else Birkmose was Denmark's first and so far only female national coach from 1963 to 1965.
